Adam's H.A.T. (Hanger Alignment Tool) is an ultralight, emergency derailleur Hanger Alignment Tool for mid-ride repair. The H.A.T. offers the peace of mind that if you or a friend bends their hanger during a long ride, you can fix it well enough to get back on the trail and have fun.

Our patent-pending H.A.T. works by allowing you to attach your front thru-axle to the bent derailleur hanger, and use your axle and front wheel together to maximize leverage and control while straightening the hanger. The front wheel also provides a much larger visual reference: When your front wheel appears parallel to your rear wheel, you're ready to reinstall your derailleur, adjust limit screws and cable tension as needed, and get back on the trail.

How to choose a H.A.T.

To choose a H.A.T. , you'll need to know the thread pitch of your front thru-axle. The best way to do this is to remove your front axle, and see if it is written on the axle itself. If it's not, we highly recommend using the Robert Axle Project Axle finder Tool. Select "wheel only - front" and enter your bike details to find your axle thread pitch.

For a general guide to the thread pitches we offer, see below:

12 x 1.0, 1.5, and 1.75mm: Most gravel bikes - nearly all 12mm thru-axles will be one of these thread pitches. If you have a 12mm front axle and the Axle Finder doesn't give a result, use the Robert Axle Project 12mm thread measuring template.

14 x 1.5mm: 15mm thru-axle Fox forks. *On fox forks, while the axle diameter is 15mm, the thread diameter is 14mm.

15 x 1.5mm: 15mm thru-axle Rockshox Forks, MRP, SR Suntour, and other brands.

Good product, but...

Can absolutely save your ass if derailleur gets hit in the middle of nowheresville.

However, the method they used to machine the grippy exterior needs to be fixed, the tool left small metal shavings on my fingers whenever I touched it.

Hi Gardner,

We're aware that some very small aluminum fines can get trapped in the grippy part (called the knurl) and are working on adjusting the process slightly. That said from what we've seen, these shavings are far to small to cause any damage to your hands or bike. if you'd like, a plastic brush should remove any remaining fines from the knurl. And If you are worried about damage or cuts from the shavings definitely let us know. Thanks for the purchase, glad the tool is a peace of mind!

Compact, portable & practical

Altho this is a tool you probably hope not to ever use, the design of this to use your front wheel as a lever & reference angle is great & it’s light & very compact. Nice kit, I might wonder a bit at the Al construction, but I think we can trust the guys to offer it in appropriate material for its usage cases.

Thanks, Abraham! We did some bend tests with a few different aluminum alloys before deciding to use 7075 - it's about twice as strong as the 6061 that many bike parts are made of.

Sweet bit of kit

A reassuring addition to the bikepacking tool kit. Not had to use in anger yet but I can say that the threads are sweet.

Purchased one for my Salsa Cutthroat and one for my Salsa Spearfish. Lightweight, fit the way they are supposed to and look/feel great. Hope I never have to use them but they are definitely a piece of mind. Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it!
